Black and gray silhouetted birds with outstretched wings are depicted against and blue and white background, with addition abstracted white and gray shapes. suggesting flight. From a series of designs of birds in flight that Braque created in 1953 for a commission to decorate the ceiling of the Etruscan Gallery in the Louvre. These designs from Braque's sketchbooks were published in 1955 as a double edition by Verve.
