According to Laurie Deredita, Director of Special Collections & Archives in 2007: “The donor is, and probably will remain, a mystery like the unknown provenance of most of the items in the Japanese Print Collection in Shain Library. There is no John Sloan file! The library moved from Palmer into the new library in 1976. This transfer was 8 years earlier. I don't think even Brian Rogers [retired director of the library] would know since he came in 1975.”
